In a famous copycat, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has adopted the method employed by his predecessor in office Muhammdu Buhari by elevating nepotism to a very dangerous trend.  In all the juicy positions he has allotted so far, his political associates, Man Friday when he was the governor of Lagos State had been the beneficiaries.

For instance when he sacked the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and replaced him with Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso a Yoruba man from Lagos State, it goes to show the penchant he has in putting his kinsmen in juicy positions.  Information has it that Cardoso was one of the people he used in running Lagos State as the governor.  In the same vein the juicy government parastatals he has removed their Managing Directors, he has replaced them with his cronies especially from Lagos State.  In the ministerial positions most of his political sidekicks were rewarded. From Mr. Dele Alake, who is currently the Minister of Solid Minerals to the Minister of Finance, Olawale Edun are the people with whom he governed Lagos State from 1999 to 2007.  He made sure that all the juicy ministries are handed over to his ethnic people.

The Chief of Army Staff, is Yoruba from Osun State, the Inspector General of Police is another Yoruba man from Ogun State while Controller General of Customs is another Yoruba man from Osun State. Information at the disposal of this medium revealed that plans are on to replace the Immigration Service boss with another Yoruba man or women ditto for the Civil Defense Corp.

It was gathered that it is just matter of time before the Directors General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMSA, Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA as well as Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL would be replaced by Yourba men.  Information at the disposal of this medium revealed that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyga Oyetola has been mandated to search for a Yourba man or woman who is loyal to Tinubu to be made the Director General of  NIMASA and Managing Director of  NPA, and should be done in no distant time.  Aso Rock source told this medium that the Nigeria First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu is the one who is going to determine who takes over from the current DG of NIMASA and MD of NPA.  The daughter of President Tinubu, Olubunmi Ojo, is being touted, according to Aso Rock source as the alter ego of her father in Aso Rock.  The source said the fear of Mrs. Ojo is the beginning of wisdom in Aso Rock.

The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is Yoruba, and the man at the affairs of ICPC is a Yoruba man, and the list is endless.

Some of the respondent who craved anonymity told this medium that Tinubu is just a copycat of the style of the former President Buhari who made a state policy that all the juicy positions of the government was reserved for his ethnic group in the country whether qualified or not.

According to the respondent s, Tinubu is brazenly like Buhari appointing his ethnic people into juicy positions in the country. Some are political patronage aimed at making sure that his associates is empowered towards 2027 presidential election if he survives the legal onslaught against his victory at the presidential poll and his academic qualifications which have been contentious for decades now.  According to them, former President Buhari has set a very dangerous precedent in the governance of the country and his successor in office is continuing on that dangerous trend that is likely going to create tension among other ethnic nationalities in the country.

Whatever is the case, the nepotic tendencies of the President Tinubu’s administration is going to shake the fragile peace in the country as it is going to heighten the agitation for self determination in the country by other ethnic nationalities.
