Comptroller Chika C Dim embarks on familiarization tour of areas of responsibility under his command

The working visit of the Customs Eastern Marine Command Area Controller to the out stations under his control took Comptroller Chika C Dim to Onne Area 11 Command, Calabar/Akwa Ibom Free Trade Zone with a stopover at the Nigerian Navy FOB Ibaka. The Eastern Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service oversees marine-related Customs activities in the South-south region of Nigeria maritime territory.

This was contained in a release by the Public Relations Officer CSC Emmanuel Tangwa of Customs Area Controller Eastern Marine Command Portharcourt.

To ensure effective operations and collaboration, Compt. CC Dim embarked on a familiarization working visit to outstations in the Onne, Akwa-Ibom and Calabar areas.

His mission was to meet with officers, check the conditions of the Nigeria Customs Service gun boats, discusses collaboration with other sister agencies while engaging stakeholders on key issues affecting the maritime domain in his Area of Responsibility.

Compt. CC DIM addressed the officers of the importance of their role in securing the maritime domain. He also checked the conditions of their gun boat and emphasized the need for proper maintenance to ensure optimal performance. He informed the officers that the Nigeria Customs Service has spent much in purchasing the gun boats and that care must be given to it. The officers were also reminded of the services’ standard operating procedures (SOP) and the importance of adhering to them.

Stoping over at the CAC Onne of Customs Command to meet with Comptroller M Babandede who was very happy receiving his brother Comptroller to his Command. They discussed on how Area 11 Command could be of assistance to Eastern Marine Command, thus, deepening the collaboration between both Commands.

Continuatinuing his familiarization tour, Comptroller CC DIM met with Captain U. ANEKE, the Commanding officer of the Nigeria Navy forward Operating Base at Ibaka in the Oron axis of Akwa Ibom State,

deepening collaboration in the marine domain in the Ibaka area, where he commended Captain ANEKE and his officers for their efforts in securing the area and preventing illegal activities. Comptroller DIM emphasized the need for continuous collaboration to ensure safe and efficient maritime environment.

Next stop over was in Calabar the office of Comptroller CG OGBONNA, Controller Akwa Ibom, FTZ Calabar. The discussion on how the presence of the Eastern Marine Command can be felt in the Calabar area. The two Comptrollers discussed ways to improve collaboration to ensure effective operations in the region. At the Calabar EMC Jetty, Comptroller DIM went round the premises to examine the state of (things) equipment which was not befitting for Customs Operations.

Concluding his familiarization working visit from EMC to Onne Outstation, Area 2 command Onne, Nigerian Navy FOB Ibaka, Akwa Ibom FTZ Calabar Command as well engaging stakeholders was a huge success.

Comptroller CC DIM overall objectives was to strengthen partnership in the maritime domain of the South-South water ways.

He reiterated one of Comptroller Generals’ cardinal focus which is collaboration emphasizing the importance of working together to secure Nigeria’s Maritime environment. The visits provided ample opportunity for Comptroller DIM to meet with officers, assess the conditions of Customs gun boats.
