The outgoing 2023 dripped with events that almost tore the fabrics of the Nigerian state.  Among the events, one that engaged the  attention of the Editorial Board of this magazine was the resuscitation of the Nigeria Customs Service Controller General’s Conference which will hold in Lagos between December 13th and 15th at the Continental Hotel in Lagos State after suspending the Conference for 11 years, to admiration of the senior officers of the agency.

This special edition with scintillating pieces on some proven officers of Nigeria Customs Service is dedicated to the towering performance of the Controller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR who within few months that he took up the mantle of leadership at the agency that is saddled with the revenue collection, has performed credibly.

The edition did not cocoon itself in only the activities of the Nigeria Customs Service, at the twilight of 2023, it found time to look at other events of national interest, the controversial budget of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, Chief Nyesom Wike enjoyed a notable mention in this edition. The controversial health issues of the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu grabbed prominent space in this edition.

The continued detention of the former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Godwin Emefiele even when court of competent jurisdiction had granted him bail grabbed the attention of the magazine in this edition. Ditto the controversial demolition of buildings in Lagos State by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for allegedly obstructing the free flow of canals in the State.

The 25th anniversary of the League of Maritime Editors made stories captured in this bumper package for December 2023.  This edition is going to be the last for the outgoing year.
