Encomiums from critical supporting allies of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) trail the “Public Sector Icon of the Year 2022 Award” conferred on Mohammed Bello-Koko, the managing director of the Sea Ports landlord

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mr Mohammed Bello-Koko, is naturally, not given to undue flamboyance and robust media hype. But his aides and admirers contend that the NPA boss has preference for high performance in place of larger than life social appearances. But as it is said that the golden fish has no hiding place, it may not have been a surprise to the staff of NPA and other critical supporting allies of the Authority when the news filtered that the lanky boss of NPA had been singled out by the management of the Vanguard Media Limited, Publisher of Vanguard Newspapers to be honoured with the prestigious award of “Public Sector Icon of the Year 2022”.

Many stakeholders of NPA have since said that the meritorious award which event took place late January, 2023, has rubbed off positively on the public image of NPA and its management. These also added that the Bello-Koko leadership of NPA has brought numerous eye-popping reforms to the utter amazement of those who had feared Bello-Koko could not put up commendable performance as the MD of the Authority.
Consequently, the Public Sector Icon award has translated to a superb public acceptance and goodwill on the NPA. This goodwill and performance perception are evident in the number of stakeholders solidarity which many organizations have been showing to Bell-Koko and NPA since after the award.
The solidarity is coming in the form of goodwill messages that have been pouring in from different quarters in appreciation of the Vanguard Award to Bello-Koko.
