The Igbo Community in Rivers State holds its 31st annual congress tagged reunion as it debunks division in its fold

Sunday, September 29, 2024 will remain a memorable day in the annals of the United Igbo Community (UIC) Rivers and Bayelsa, as the day the 23 chapters of the association celebrated a reunion of Eze Innocent Adiele Maduagwu, Eze Onunekwuru Igbo the 3rd Rivers and Bayelsa into its fold after so many years of separation.
Speaking to Journalists during the annual general meeting, President General of United Igbo Community (UIC), Comrade Evangelist Julius Uzoma describe the meeting as successful and peaceful. He attributed the feat to the love Ndigbo have for the association of the United Igbo Community (UIC) Rivers and Bayelsa.
“Today is the 31st annual general meeting of United Igbo Community (UIC). As you can see the event was peaceful and successful with massive turn out which indicates the love Ndigbo have for the association,
“Before now the association distanced itself from Eze Maduagwu the 3rd “Eze Onunekwuru Igbo” Rivers and Bayelsa because of a case he allegedly instituted against the United Igbo Community (UIC), the issue has been resolved and the Eze has been restored fully as a member of United Igbo Community Rivers and Bayelsa, and to that effect a motion was equally moved and accepted by the general Congress. In fact there is no faction in United Igbo Community (UIC) Rivers and Bayelsa, ” Comrade Uzoma explained.
Commenting on the readmission of Eze Maduagwu into the Community, the President General said all issues that led to his suspension have been settled and infact a motion has been duly moved and accepted by the entire United Igbo Community (UIC) Rivers and Bayelsa, the Congress to welcomes him back.
Comrade Uzoma reiterated that there is no faction in United Igbo Community (UIC) Rivers and Bayelsa. Further he pointed out that any other group masquerading as United Igbo Community (UIC) is fake.
In his remark, speaking in an interview with journalists, the founder United Igbo Community (UIC) Rivers and Bayelsa, Eze Maduagwu Adiele, Onunekwuru Igbo the 3rd said he was happy to be back into the fold of (UIC) family. He described those who tried to bring disaffection between him and United Igbo Community (UIC) Rivers and Bayelsa as detractors, who do not mean well for the Association and Ndigbo in general.
“I am happy to witness today’s general Congress of United Igbo Community (UIC). It simply shows that the Igbos in Rivers have made peace with themselves and everybody is happy.
“My charge to United Igbo Community (UIC) is for them to stay together in peace. As for the wrong people that have gone astray, they will come back,” he said.
Adding her voice to welcoming Eze Adiele back the fold, the Women Leader of United Igbo Community (UIC), Rivers and Bayelsa Chapter, Mrs Amaka Mbie described the meeting as a reunion with the leaders of the association, talking about the President General, Comrade Uzoma and Eze Adiele Maduagwu, Onu nekwuru Igbo III, Rivers and Bayelsa States.
