Somebody was quoted to have said, “Nigeria is a bottomless pit of unpredictability and incomprehensibility”. For this reason, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is on the verge of defrauding the good people of Rivers State through the illegal imposition of a Sole Administrator on the State after he deployed executive fiat to suspend the elected government structures in the state.
It was expected that the Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, would use the six months allocated to him to administer the state, deploying strategies to restore political order in the embattled state.
But there is an orchestrated pattern which had been carved out for the maximum ruler Ibas which he must follow to the letter. That’s why he has dismantled all the governance structures he inherited to enthrone a junta styled rulership that is causing outrage.
Though Nigerians in their natural docile disposition are not ready raise eyebrow for fear of oppression.
The escalating insecurity in the country has, again, begun to stare Tinubu in the face as he is concentrating his forces on his 2027 second term gambit amidst rising opposition forces from the North.
To add salt and pepper to a fresh injury, both Tinubu and his vice Kashim Shettima, had jetted out of the country while killings across Plateau State, and kidnappings elsewhere in the country raged. This is a highly insensitive action.
Senator Ali Ndume would remind Tinubu that except he addressed issues of insecurity, citizens’ welfare and economy, all his struggles to secure the support of Nigerians come 2027, may end up a complete fiasco.
