In an effort to rid the country of illicit drugs, the Rivers State office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) receives intercepted illicit drugs from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

In its sustained operations to curb illegal bunkering activities and other associated criminalities along coastal communities, the Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted and recovered a consignment of illicit drugs (suspected to be cannabis sativa and Canadian Loud), concealed in six Ghana-must-go bags, along the Ojiekiri River, in Okrika Council of the state.
In a brief handover ceremony of the exhibits to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Rivers State Commandant, Joachin Okafor, commended the vigilance and commitment of personnel of the State Command in combating all shades of criminalities, while assuring the public of the continuous protection of lives and property, as well as critical national assets and infrastructure within the State.
Okafor, who said the seizures were made during a coordinated routine patrol by the Personnel of the Marine component of the Command, further emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration and synergy, which he said, captures the formal handover of the intercepted exhibits to NDLEA.
Responding, the Assistant State Commander of NDLEA, ACN James Awoji, thanked the State Commandant for the noble gesture and recalled the robust synergy that has existed between both agencies and pledged to sustain the collaboration.
A highlight of the event was the formal handover of all the exhibits to the NDLEA for further investigation, forensic analysis and appropriate legal actions as stipulated by law.
