The Abia State Police Command intensifies onslaught against criminal elements terrorizing the state, while confirming arrests of various crime suspects by its men and officers

Armed robbers, kidnappers and other criminal suspects in Abia State have never had it so tough. In the last five months, no fewer than 230 male criminals and 15 female ones have been arrested by the state Police Command in different locations, while carrying out their routine operations.
Commissioner of Police Abia State command, CP Danladi Isa was visibly elated as he briefed journalists to update and keep members of the public informed about the command’s continuous efforts in combating crime and fostering a secure environment conducive to socio-economic development in the state.
He said the Abia State Police Command has made significant strides in combating crime, reducing killings, armed robbery, kidnapping, vandalism of government properties, as well as cases of rape and defilement.
Isa explained that the command embarked on massive onslaught against the criminals following complaints of incessant robbery attacks and other related crimes by inhabitants across the state, adding that several suspects have been apprehended and numerous exhibits recovered including firearms of various specifications, stolen vehicles and illicit substances in different operations.
Additionally, trafficked and kidnapped victims have been safely rescued, while several cases have been charged to court, leading to successful prosecutions.
While highlighting the command’s achievements from January to date, CP Isa disclosed that a total of 230 male suspects and 15 female suspects were apprehended during various operations prosecuted and some remanded in custody just as nine kidnapped victims and 18 trafficked children were rescued.
Giving the details of the command achievements for the months of May and June, 2025, he recalled the unfortunate attack on a group of Chinese expatriates who on April 4, 2025, while they were on en route to their company site located at Agukwu Amaya Ndudu Community, Uturu in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, the tragic incident led to the death of two Chinese expatriates and a police officer.
Leveraging technical and credible intelligence, the command, on May 28, 2025 apprehended one Chisom Chikwendu male 35 years old from Ngoli Logara in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State in connection with the attack. He has been prosecuted by the command and remains in prison custody.
According to reports, efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal gang as investigation is ongoing.
Again, on June 24, 2025, officers attached to Iru squad arrested three individuals in connection to a case of kidnapping which occurred at Amos Residence, Umugo Village on June 4, 2025. The suspects are Eberechi Gift, from Mbutu Alaoji Village, Loveday Confidence Ugwati, Asa Village and Chukwudi Onyejwu from Uzotta Village, items recovered from the suspects include a pump-action gun with three live cartridges and two expended cartridges.
That was not all, on May 11, 2025 unknown armed men kidnapped a rider and two occupants of a tricycle along Ngodo-Amuda road, Isuochi. Police officers from the Isuochi Division in conjunction with local vigilante rescued two of the victims: Friday Chibueze and the wife Onyinyechi Chubueze.
Still on June 24, 2025 officers from Uratta Division headquarters arrested Izuchukwu Uzoma and Chikodi Anyanwu in connection to the murder of Ifeanyi Uzoma. The motive behind the murder was reportedly a dispute over their father’s property, which led to a violent confrontation.
After the incident, Izuchukwi allegedly threatened to kill his elder brother forcing him to leave the family house. During the brother’s absence, the suspect took advantage of the situation to sell a significant portion of their family property, valued at over ten million naira without the consent.
Again, on June 29, 2025 Ohuha Divisional Headquarters received a report on an incident that occurred in Ihite Ude Ofeme, Ohuhu Clan, resulting to the death of Chinedu Emmanuel. Further investigation revealed that Chinedu Emmanuel has been involved in a dispute with his father, Elder Emmanuel Agwu over ownership of some bags of palm kernel.
A violent confrontation ensued between them; Elder Agwu inflicted a matchet cut on Chinedu’s right hand, leading to his death due to excessive bleeding. Upon the report, officers from the above Division visited the scene and arrested the suspect and recovered the exhibit.
The police boss went further to disclosed to the press that on June 27, at about 2055hrs, a Joint Patrol Team of Police Officers attached to Uturu Divisional Headquarters in collaboration with the security agents intercepted a suspected stolen vehicle, a black Toyota Camry with registration number: PHC 590 AR at Onuaku Community, Uturu along the Okigwe-Afikpo Expressway.
The CP also disclosed that the vehicle had two occupants, Ezaka Festus, an Anatomy student of Ebonyi State University and Emmanuel Chisom from Abakiliki, Ebonyi State. He added that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to visiting a car stand in Enugu under the pretense of buying one where the vehicle was released to them for a test drive, but they subsequently drove off with the vehicle without any intension of returning it. The suspects and the vehicle recovered to the station. Other items recovered from the suspect include an Iphone 14 ProMax, an Iphone 11 ProMax, a power bank and Infinix HotPro.
Another big catch for the Abia Police Command according to the statement is the arrest of one Blessing Emebo and Sunday Emebo on May 19, for operating an unregistered Motherless Babies Home in their apartment t Ikot Ekpene Road, Aba.
The report said the suspects were found in possession of twelve (12) children aged between six months and fourteen years from different villages in Arochukwu. The recued children have been safely handed over to the Ministry of Woman Affair for custody.
Again, on the 16 May, 2025, the police smashed a criminal gang when the central police station, Umuahia (CPS) raid a black spot at Golden “B” Brother in Ubakala and apprehended 11 suspects. Two matchets and wraps of weed suspected to be India Hemp were recovered from the suspects. And they have been since charged to court.
The police commissioners use the opportunity to inform the general public that those criminals would always use the slightest opportunity to wreck havoc on the citizenry with the impression that the police are handicapped. He assured Abia State citizens that the police is determined and full committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state.
He assured the people of Abia State of their unwavering dedication and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
