The Rivers State Police Command reports a harvest of casualties as a result of love gone sour

Rivers State Police Command has arrested one Kingsley Chinaemezu popularly known as Power Sharp, for the alleged brutal killing of his 44-year old girlfriend, Confidence Konerari Sunny in Umuebule Community, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Tentacle gathered that the deadly Chinaemezu, a 23-year old native of Ogbo Hill, Aba, in Abia State was apprehended after allegedly matcheting the Dubai returnee and single mother of 14-year old boy called Henry, before fleeing to Egbeta Village in Edo State where he continued threatening the victim’s family members.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, revealed that operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) leveraging technical intelligence tracked and arrested the Suspect on August 15, 2025.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime, providing chilling details of the events leading to the murder. Evidence is being collected while investigations continue to determine his possible involvement in other crimes. He will be prosecuted upon completion of the investigation” the PPRO said.
Rivers State Commissioner of Police (CP) Olugbenga Adepoju commended the swift response of the operatives, stressing that Rivers State would never serve as a safe haven for criminal elements. He further warned perpetrators of heinous crimes to desist, as the law will always catch up with them.
Meanwhile, the Orashi National Congress (ONC) under the leadership of Emeni Ibe has commended the Rivers State Police command for its professionalism, speed and commitment in bringing the suspect to justice.
Ibe noted that arrest has not only restored public confidence in the Police but has also sent a strong signal to criminals that Rivers State communities remain under vigilant security watch. He assured that the ONC would continue to support security agencies in their efforts to rid the state of crimes and protect innocent lives.
The ONC further called residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and supportive of security operatives by reporting suspicious movements of individuals in their communities.
Similarly, a young man, who suspected his girlfriend of cheating with another man in the Diobu axis in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital has stabbed her to death after an argument, which led to an altercation.
The suspected Killer, who is simply known in the area as “Doctor” according to a source, had suspected that his girlfriend Ima was going out with another man, hence confronted her with the allegation leading to her death.
It was learnt that the tragic incident occurred on Sunday August 17, 2025 after the man accused his female lover of cheating on him. The argument and altercation between both lovers rose to a fever pitch leading to the unfortunate incident. As reported, a resident in the area who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the man reached for a knife and stabbed the woman, who reportedly bled to death.
There was a crowd in the compound because of what happened. So the caretaker of the compound quickly rushed to Azikiwe Police division in mile 2 Diobu, to make a formal complaint on the incident.
According to eye witness, on arrival at the compound, a team of Policemen arrested the suspect and took the remains of the lady to the morgue.
Shortly after the arrest, a crowd of sympathizers and the others, who had gotten wind of the incident thronged to the Azikiwe Police Division on Monday morning when the corpse of the lady was brought to the station before being deposited at the morgue.
Confirming the incident, Iringe Koko said CP Adepoju has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt for the probe.
Meanwhile, the National Coordinator of the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Compaign, Prince Wiro has called on the Police to ensure justice, saying, “We are calling on the Police to ensure a thorough and unbiased investigation with a view to serving justice on the matter.
“I advise young people that they should not endure toxic relationships. People should walk away from toxic relationships because their life is more important than any relationship. You can not be in toxic relationship at the expense of your life.”
