The new Customs Area Controller (CAC) in charge of the Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu has resumed duties after a brief handover ceremony at the Command’s Headquarters in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Comptroller Aliyu resumed fully on Wednesday 3rd of September after the colourful ceremony to mark the formal handing over and taking over of leadership of the Command between him and his immediate predecessor, Comptroller Joseph Olugbuyi Adelaja who has since retired from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

In his farewell remarks, the outgone Comptroller Adelaja appreciated the Almighty God, the Service’s management, and officers and men of the Command for their maximum cooperation throughout his tenure. He highlighted the Command’s notable achievements under his stewardship, including remarkable strides in revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations and improved welfare facilities such as the resolution of the long-standing power supply challenges at the barracks, and the installation of solar systems at the mosque and church within the barracks. Comptroller Adelaja (Rtd) urged officers and stakeholders to extend the same support to his successor.

In his response, the new Area Controller, Comptroller Aliyu, expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and the Service’s management for the confidence reposed in him. He commended the achievements of his predecessor and pledged to build on them. Comptroller Aliyu assured that his administration would focus on three major areas of enhanced revenue generation, an intelligence-drive anti-smuggling exploit, and prioritisation of officers’ welfare alongside strict discipline. He further called for the cooperation of officers, stakeholders, sister agencies, and the host communities to enable the Command to achieve greater success.
