A man who prides himself as a bishop in Rivers State has been arraigned in court over the theft of N25 million newly donated school desks, fittings and sundry office equipment

The belief in some quarters that not everyone who parades as pastor is holy and that some altars are satanic may be true. The self-acclaimed demon destroyer and founder of D’ Marriage Worship Centre, Eleme, a suburb of Port Harcourt in Rivers State, Bishop God’spower Osaro, has proved to be a Man of God in the afternoon and devil reincarnate in the night, making house breaking and stealing his new-found calling.
The Eleme-born father of four in his 50s and his accomplice, Pastor Barinaa Sanneh, Tentacle gathered, were charged at Nchia Magistrate Court in Eleme Local Government Area penultimate Thursday for stealing school desks, chairs, panels, fittings and other office equipment valued at N25 million from Community Primary School, Alesa, Eleme, Rivers State.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the two court’s criminal charges and were admitted to bail by the Magistrate, Mrs. Kevin Chinaka, who said they must meet the bail conditions including a bail bond of N10 Million each. The disgraced Bishop and his accomplice who have fallen from grace to grass, their disgraceful journey began last month when they broke into the school and carted away newly supply desks provided for the school by the immediate past Administrator of Eleme Local Government, Dr. Obo Dibiah.
Tentacle further learnt that Dr. Dibiah had promised to supply the desks after she visited the school and found the pupils sitting on bare floor while receiving their lesson. She was moved by the pitiful condition of the pupils and the unfriendly environment which is not ideal for learning. Although, she could not make the desks available while she was still in office, the compassionate former council boss, yet kept her promise within two weeks of leaving office.
The story was that desks provided by Rivers State Government under the Amaechi administration were stolen by unknown persons. It didn’t take quite two weeks after the brand new sets of desks were delivered to the school when thieves broke into the school and carted away the seats. The headmistress of the school raised alarm and alerted the President of Alesa Youth Council, Mr. Frank Obele who mobilized his members and the Alode Youth Council to search for the missing seats.
They traced the seats to the Church of Bishop Osaro, where the seats had been broken up and the iron stands removed and stacked aside. They also found other office equipment in the church premises. Tentacle further gathered that during interrogation, Bishop Osaro confessed that Barinaa was his accomplice. Both of them were arrested and handed over to the police at Eleme Divisional Headquarters. After investigations, the police swiftly charged them to court.
During the court session, a mild drama occurred when the police prosecutor said the embattled Bishop would not be taken to prison because he had met the bail condition. The community and the school people at the court protested alleged that contrary to the bail conditions given by the Magistrate that sureties must provide evidence of the bail bond and must be a senior government official. But the bail bond was secretly signed by the father of the Bishop who is a highly respected Chief without evidence of meeting the bail bond.
When the situation became very rowdy, the Bishop and other accused persons were later drove away in a white bus purportedly taking them to prison custody. Peace Adams who spoke to Tentacle said that the Bishop and his accomplice are agents of darkness who joined church to hide under the name of pastor or bishop, demons in human flesh let them rot in jail,” she said.
Remiguis Abonyi agreed with Peace; “Do people actually know the meaning of a bishop? People should stop calling this man a bishop. Who made him a bishop?
This man is not even a pastor. You are seeing a serial thief and you are giving him a coated name”. In his own reaction, Uzochukwu Oborgu said that things are truly happening. According to him, when he was the pastor of the New Steadfast Love Parish RCCG, it was the same Eleme, Trailer Park that unknown people came and packed all the seats and other things in the church. “He is not a Bishop, but a rogue, a real wild wolf seeking for who to devour, master crook on the move,” Oborgu said.
In a related development, police operatives in Rivers State have arrested as suspected notorious human trafficking king pin, Blessing Jack and her syndicate in Port Harcourt. Police authorities in the state stated that the suspected king pin was cracked down after she discussed a recent incident where her associate had taken a woman’s baby, claiming the baby had died but had been paid N2 milion for the transaction.
According to the police, Jack and her associates used fake scans to manipulate vulnerable pregnant women to obtain their babies. Police Spokesperson in Rivers State, SP Grace Iringe Koko who confirmed Blessing Jack’s arrest and three of his gang members in a statement on Monday 13th October, 2025, said with this development, the Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its investigation into the activities of child trafficking syndicate in the state. She said: “The syndicate allegedly led by one Blessing Jack, a 54 – year – old female resident of Timber Road, Igwuruta, Port Harcourt, exploiting vulnerable young mothers, stealing and selling their new born babies for significant financial gains.
On October 9, 2025 at about 15:00, operatives of the command attached to C4i Intelligence Unit, through technical aided policing arrested Blessing Jack, at Igwuruta, in Port Harcourt. A conversation between Blessing Jack and one Marley Oburu “M” revealed the syndicate modus operandi.
She discussed a recent incident where her associate had taken a woman’s baby, claiming the baby had died, but had been paid N2 million for the transaction. The transaction suggested that Blessing and her associates use fake scans and manipulate pregnant women to obtain their babies. Other suspects arrested include: Chinonso Raymond, a 30-year old male of Igwuruta, Port Harcourt, Chinyere Okorie, a 32 years old female of Pipeline, Rumuoholu, Port Harcourt and Nkechi Nwankwo, a 50-year old female of Pipeline, Rumuoholu, Port Harcourt.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Blessing Jack had previously been imprisoned in Calabar for three years for child trafficking, highlighted her long-standing involvement in the illicit business.
