The Ports Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) records over N350 billion within nine months of 2025 as it seizes unregistered medicaments worth N200 million

In what appears to be a determination to surpass target in revenue generation, Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Joe Anani has announced revenue takings of ₦350.347 billion from January to September 2025 being the first nine months of the year.
Speaking during his maiden media briefing, he said the collected figure is 96.64 percent and almost equal to the ₦362,521,085,250.98 that was collected by the Command from January to December 2024.
According to him, the Command also intercepted a 1X20FT container marked GCNU1275880 falsely declared as supermarket items, but upon 100 percent examination was found to contain pharmaceutical drugs.
He also revealed that for third quarter, 2025, the Command recorded a total of ₦116,243,603,670.58 revenue, representing 34.3 percent, which is higher than the ₦86,584,012,733.43 collected during the same period of 2024.
He explained that a comparative analysis of the Command’s revenue performance in the last quarter showed that the command has maintained a steady increase in collection and this is happening despite the teething challenges of the B’Odogwu platform, which the Command was fast overcoming.
Speaking on the command’s anti-smuggling activities, the CAC said that two containers of unregistered medicines were intercepted including one WE Tactical made in Taiwan Airsoft pistol, two magazines and 12 rounds of live ammunitions, 1x40FT container marked ACLU9806850 falsely declared as magnetic resonance imaging apparatus but upon 100 percent examination, was found to contain 6,262 cartons of various brands of antibiotics.
He added that in line with the CGC’s directive on enhancing customs community relationships, the command’s existing relationships with sister government agencies and other stakeholders have been boosted.
In line with the collaboration policy thrust of the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller Anani handed the seized containers over to the Director of Port Inspection Directorate of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
“Our anti-smuggling and enforcement drives remain intact without compromise. As a command, we are not compromising national security on the altar of trade facilitation. I have visited various agencies of government and received them in my office on similar visits where we renewed our resolve for regular cooperation, inter agency collaboration, intelligence sharing and crime prevention strategies.
“I thank our stakeholders and urge them once again to stay on the path of obedience and compliance with the law. Compliance saves time, saves money and helps in building a reputation for business growth towards migration into the AEO status,” he stated.
Director, Port Inspectorate Division of NAFDAC, Dr. Olakunle Olaniran, who received the seized items, thanked the NCS for their life saving enforcement drive, while commending the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the NCS and NAFDAC as a working pact while urging Nigerians to patronize only registered pharmaceutical vendors.
The NAFDAC Director also praised Comptroller Anani for supporting NAFDAC in its duty to safeguard Nigerian lives by ensuring such prohibited medicines including hypertension drugs and other prescription medications without NAFDAC’s certification and numbers are not allowed into the country.
