Officers and men of the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) record another huge achievement as they raided a den of armed robbers in Owerri-West Council and recover a decomposed body

In another significant hit recorded by men of the Nigeria police force Imo State command while cracking down men of the underworld terrorizing communities within the state.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, November 7, 2025 the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Command, Henry Okoye, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), operatives attached to the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in a coordinated effort with local vigilante groups, stormed multiple kidnappers’ enclaves located within the Okuku and Ndegwu communities of Owerri West Local Government Area.
The intelligence-driven operation, which was coordinated by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) the Modakeke-born Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, resulted in the discovery of a decomposing corpse inside an abandoned livestock farm concealed deep in the Okuku–Agwa forest. Police officers promptly secured the scene while the remains were evacuated to a mortuary for forensic evaluation.
According to preliminary reports, the Police Forensic Department has commenced DNA testing to determine whether the body is that of Barrister Jeffery Ucheagwu, who was abducted on October 14, 2025, at Site and Services Estate, Umuguma, in Owerri-West Council.
Police authorities confirmed that the raided locations have been placed under constant surveillance to forestall any attempt by the criminals to return, as tactical teams continue tracking the fleeing suspects. The operation also forms part of a broader intelligence-driven strategy to rescue kidnapped victims and neutralize violent gangs operating in the region.
Commending the gallantry of the operatives involved, the Commissioner of Police, the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command (CP) Aboki Danjuma, reaffirmed his administration’s determination to rid Imo State of kidnapping and other forms of insecurity.
He emphasized that the command will leave no stone unturned in pursuing and apprehending all criminal elements behind the abductions, stressing that every suspect linked to the heinous acts will face justice.
Danjuma also urged residents of the state to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence that could help prevent crimes before they occur.
While assuring the public of enhanced patrols and a reinforced security presence across the state, the Commissioner of police (CP) Danjuma urged citizens to remain calm, law-abiding and vigilant at all times.
Further he said, the ongoing security operations reflect Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration’s renewed collaboration with security agencies to maintain peace and restore public confidence in the state’s law enforcement architecture.
He reaffirmed that sustained community vigilance, information sharing, and proactive policing remain central to ensuring that kidnapping, banditry, and related crimes are permanently eradicated from Imo State.
The Command concluded by promising to provide regular updates on the outcome of forensic investigations and ongoing manhunts, reassuring families of victims that justice will be served.
Similarly the Police in Rivers State has dismantles a cult network, arresting 8 suspects, recovers high caliber weapons.
The Rivers State Police Command has dismantled a violent secret cult network in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt, arresting eight suspects and recovering high-caliber weapons in the process.
In a release by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosure significant investigation and fight against organised crime in the state.
According to the statement, the arrests of members of the secret cult network were made following a series of police operations targeting a deadly inter-rival cult clash between the Blood Suckers (BS) and D12 factions of the notorious DEYGBAM Secret Cult group in Diobu, Port Harcourt.
The violence, which erupted in May 2025 and claimed multiple lives, had instilled widespread fear in the community.
It was stated that police operatives, through relentless efforts, have neutralized some key suspects, recovered several illegal weapons, and restored calm to the area.
The arrested eight suspects, all males, included Diepreye Gogo-Abite (43); Godsfollow Monday (30); Ifeanyi Sampson (28); Gift Emmanuel (28); Friday Godwin (24); Chukwemeka Dike (31); Brown Otu (23) and Dieseyi Ukulu (43).
The state Police Command further listed the exhibits recovered from the suspects to include one Scorpion VZ61 submachine gun; one fabricated English-made Beretta pistol; 20 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition; two rounds of 9mm live ammunition and one pair of screwdriver (sunglasses).
“These weapons were concealed in a black bag at Ukulu’s (one of the suspects) residence and were uncovered after his confession. Chidiebere Nwaiwu (a.k.a Daddy) was arrested on August 26, 2025, as the group’s chief armourer involved in gun-running. He died in the hospital on August 27, 2025, after falling ill. His remains are preserved in the mortuary for autopsy.
“Before his arrest, Daddy had planned an ambush to kill police operatives posted on special duty in Rumuosi/Rumuagholu axis over a land dispute, collaborating with Michael Ejike (a.k.a Effizy) and Clinton Anwusor.
“Michael Ejike was arrested on September 16, 2025, in Imo State where he had run into hidings.
“During interrogation, he confessed to removing the weapons from Daddy’s home via his sister on the specific instructions of Ugochukwu Ukeagbu (a.k.a Ugo King), leader of the Blood Suckers,” it was stated in the release.
The eight suspects are currently facing prosecution in court, while Michael Ejike and Clinton Anwusor will face prosecution upon the completion of a thorough investigation
It was also disclosed that efforts were ongoing to recover more arms, arrest and dismantle other cult networks across Port Harcourt and Rivers State.
It also said the temporary silence of the Rivers Police Command on the investigation was part of a strategy to prevent escalation and apprehend potential accomplices.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has commended the diligence and bravery of the police operatives in the daring operations.
He encouraged his officers and men to maintain the high standard of competence in the fight against crime in all its manifestations.
The CP also noted that the arrests have restored peace to Diobu and the state at large, commended members of the community for their cooperation and urged more vigilance.
