A Rivers State-born academic and scholar, Dr. Chinyere Igwe has done his home state and indeed the entire country proud outside the shores of Nigeria by winning the Chairmanship of the International World Public Policy Association, among other accomplishments

The number of Nigerians doing the country proud in their different fields keeps increasing, as an erudite Scholar and Public Policy Expert, Dr. Chinyere Igwe, has won the Chairmanship of the International World Public Policy Association, a global professional body for Public Policy Scholars and Experts.
According to a statement from his media consultant, Dr. Lawrence Dike, the emergence of Dr. Igwe who is Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, followed the selection of his scholarly paper titled, National Legacies and Global Policy Adoption, which beat other submissions in the comparative Public Policy category globally and he will be leading the pack in the workshop and global discussion at the International World Public Policy Conference, billed to hold in Ottawa, Canada in 2026.
A letter endorsed by the Secretary-General of International World Public Policy Association, Philip Zittoun, revealed, “For this year’s call for workshop, we received 79 proposals, making the selection process particularly competitive, but we are pleased to inform you that after a careful review by the international scientific committee, your proposal has been accepted and you are the Chair of this session on comparative “Public Policy.”
“The Chairman of the Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor of Rivers State owned Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, is intentionally driving policies to position the University as an institution of choice,” the statement added.
The erudite Scholar and Public Policy Expert is also the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Maurison Media Group, owner and operator of Wish FM 99.5 PH, Atlantic Television Network and Maurison Media Academy.
The statement further disclosed that Dr. Igwe has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles and local journals and holds a PhD in Policy and Administration. He is a fellow of Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, Institute of Strategic Management and Institute of Management Consultancy, a Registered Practitioner in Advertising, Member International Bar Association and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), among other professional affiliations.
A man of many parts, he was a member of the House of Representatives, Abuja, Former Commissioner of Urban Development and Physical Planning, Energy and Natural Resources in Rivers State, as well as former Mayor and Chairman, Port Harcourt City Council, among other public offices he occupied.
In his congratulatory message, a former Commissioner for Information, Rivers State, Dr. Emma Okah, said that Igwe has made every Rivers man proud by the rare accomplishment and prayed to God to grant him a steady and peaceful rise of the journeys ahead to His eternal glory.
While a media guru in the state, Bont Woke, said Igwe has distinguished himself as an exceptional scholar and a global brand worthy of emulation, adding that Igwe’s success demonstrates the transformative power of education and perseverance, offering a new narrative of excellence and possibility.
Woke went further to add that Igwe, who is stickler for excellence is one man that is diligently determined to create a path instead of following a trail.
“He has always had a clear cut vision and optimism of what his destiny would be and has right from the onset settled for the best as he aspires for the top and worked hard towards carving a niche for himself,” Woke said.
Igwe has received many feathers to his large cap and has at various times received commendation and garlands for his enviable achievements.
