The National Association Of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) visits Comptroller OO Afeni, the acting Customs Area Controller (CAC ) of Ogun 1 Command, Idiroko Border, Ogun State, pledges to lend support to the Command in the war against smuggling in the state

The leadership of the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) on Thursday, January, 22, 2026 paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Command with a pledge to collaborate with the Service, especially in curbing illicit substances.
The visit aimed to formalize relations with the command and congratulate the Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC), Deputy Comptroller Oladapo Olukayode Afeni, on his recent appointment, while commending the Command’s strategic achievements so far under Afeni’s watch.
During the meeting, the NAOSS Global President, Comrade Olubodun Olalekan, commended the Controller for the significant milestones achieved since assuming office. He specifically highlighted the Command’s success in the seizures of illicit and dangerous drugs (particularly marijuana, popularly known as Indian Hemp), as well as illegal arms and ammunition.
Comrade Olalekan emphasized that Ogun 1 Command plays a critical role in national security by ensuring that illegal businesses do not thrive within the state, stating,The command is playing a vital role in safeguarding the nation by protecting our borders.”
As a gesture of support, Olalekan pledged that NAOSS would organize a sensitization rally to educate members of the public, especially the youths on the dangers of smuggling and drug consumption and abuse.
Responding, Deputy Comptroller Oladapo Olukayode Afeni reflected on the historical significance of the Idiroko Border and noted the improved relationship between the Service and members of the public.
In a statement made available to journalists by the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ogun I Command Idiroko, Ogun State, Chado Zakari, a Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC), the Controller observed that the frequent clashes previously recorded between officers and host communities in the Command’s area of jurisdiction have ceased and has been replaced by a newfound era of peace.
However, the CAC also expressed deep concern over the volume of drugs seized the Command intercepts on daily basis, noting that these activities are predominantly perpetrated by youths, maintaining that the trade continues because of a “buyer-seller” cycle that needs to be broken, with a firm resolve to end all forms of illicit drugs trade at the Command.
