Among other successes, the Oyo/Osun Command of the Nigeria Customs Service surpasses its 2025 revenue target by 15 percent, as it records a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N2.7 billion in anti-smuggling operations

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded an impressive revenue performance as it generates ₦86.29 billion and incredible anti-smuggling operations, with seizures amounting to a Duty Paid Value of over ₦2.7 billion in 2025.
Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command, Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, revealed this during his maiden media briefing, where he presented an analysis of the Command’s activities and outlined its renewed enforcement posture aimed at protecting the economy and strengthening border security.
While attributing the achievement to improved compliance by traders, effective monitoring mechanisms, intelligence-led enforcement and the dedication and commitment of officers to lawful trade facilitation; Adewole said the Command not only surpassed its 2025 revenue target, but also recorded a surplus of over ₦13.13 billion, representing a 15.22 percent increase above expectations.
Speaking on the anti-smuggling operations, DC Adewole explained that within one month of assuming office, the Command impounded prohibited and smuggled goods worth a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦2.7 billion.
The Seized items includesn2,234 (50kg) bags foreign parboiled rice valued at ₦385,2 million; 1,112 pieces of used tyres valued at ₦256.3 million; 562 (25Litre) kegs of Premium Motor Spirit valued at ₦33.6 million; 124 bales of used clothes worth ₦782.4 million; 37 wraps of Cannabis Sativa (Indian Hemp worth ₦4.2 million; 15 pieces of Codeine Syrup valued at ₦432 million and 10 Packs (250MG) of Tramadol worth ₦17.2 million.
Others are 42 sacks of used shoes worth ₦424.5 million, 110 cartons of foreign Spaghetti valued at ₦8.5 million; 150 pieces of used compressors valued at ₦15 million; 107 cartons of pharmaceuticals products worth ₦119 million, as well as Tokunbo vehicles including Toyota Camry worth ₦95.8 million, Hyundai Sonata valued at ₦59.5 million; Hyundai Jeep worth ₦95.8 million, Chevrolet EQ worth ₦50 million and a Mercedes GLE valued at ₦103.6 million.
He further explained that the prohibited items were conveyed by a Volvo Truck with ₦69 million worth of the items, one Volkswagen Bus containing ₦42.673 million worth of the consignments, three J5 vehicles with ₦140.2 million value of the items, all amounting to ₦2.7 billion, adding that they were all seized at different flashpoints within the Command’s areas of jurisdiction.
Adewole highlighted that the seizures were made possible through credible intelligence, sustained patrols and strategic enforcement operations, stressing that the Command remains resolute in suppressing smuggling and safeguarding national economic interests.
He, however, cautioned smugglers to desist from illegal activities, noting that the Command would not relent in enforcing the law, while assuring compliant traders of continued support and facilitation of legitimate business.
The Acting CAC expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his leadership and support, as well as Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his cooperation, while commending officers of the Command, sister security agencies, stakeholders and the media for their roles in achieving the milestones.
He equally reaffirmed that the Oyo/Osun Command will sustain its zero-tolerance stance against smuggling while strengthening collaboration and stakeholder engagement to ensure economic security and steady revenue growth in the years ahead.
