For exceeding the revenue target for the year 2025, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Tincan Island Port, showers appreciation on deserved officers for hard work and exceptional dedication to duty

The Tincan Island Port Customs Command has showered appreciation I on some of its officers who contributed greatly in helping the Command meet and exceed its revenue target for the year 2025. The event which came in the form of awards on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the Command in Lagos, recognised outstanding officers, while the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Frank Onyeka, announced the stunning 2025 revenue stride of ₦1.6 trillion.
Comptroller Onyeka disclosed that the Command exceeded its ₦1.524 trillion revenue benchmark for 2025, and described the feat as a remarkable improvement over previous years.
According to him, the achievement was the result of collective effort, enhanced efficiency and transparency, rather than individual contributions.
Speaking further, the Customs Chief said, “A tree can never make a forest. I could not have done it alone, much has been given to us, and much is expected from us. Officers deserve appreciation for their tireless efforts”.
He explained that the awards ceremony reflected a renewed culture within the Service to recognise diligence, professionalism and shared responsibility among officers.
The CAC also highlighted operational reforms introduced to improve trade facilitation and internal efficiency, particularly measures aimed at eliminating unnecessary delays in file processing.
“Upon assumption of office, I made it clear that files should not be held unnecessarilly. If there are issues with files, let them be clearly identified and addressed. If you are not sure what to do, ask,” he said.
Comptroller Onyeka noted that the recent launch of the Time Release Study (TRS) report by the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, had further strengthened the Command’s resolve to accelerate legitimate trade while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.
He paid tribute to his predecessor, Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Dera Nnadi, describing his tenure as “superb” and acknowledging that it laid a solid foundation for the Command’s current achievements.
The CAC also expressed appreciation to the CGC as well as stakeholders, partners and officers, for sustaining confidence in the Command despite prevailing economic and operational challenges.
The award recipients described the recognition as both an honour and a call to greater responsibility.
Meanwhile, the Tincan Island Command made another significant seizure of ₦4.7 billion worth of cannabis. The seizure was made after an intensive physical examination of a 40-feet container, which was found to contain 55 jumbo bags of Cannabis Indica alongside a firearm.
According to Comptroller Onyeka, the examination was conducted on January 28, 2026, in collaboration with officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Department of State Services (DSS). The seized narcotics comprised 2,366 compressed packages with a combined weight of 1,183 kilograms. A Colt’s MK IV / Series 70 .45 automatic pistol with an empty magazine was also recovered.
The illicit items were cleverly concealed inside three used vehicles: a Hyundai Santafe, a Toyota Sienna, and a Toyota Matrix. One suspect has been arrested in connection with the seizure. The CAC commended the Comptroller-General of Customs for his leadership and continuous support, which has strengthened inter-agency cooperation and operational effectiveness.
The seized drugs will be formally handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution, while the recovered firearm will be transferred to the appropriate security agency. The NCS has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy for drug trafficking and transnational crime, assuring the public of sustained vigilance across all ports of entry.
