The auditorium of the Customs Command, Apapa on September 11, 2023 crawled with Customs senior officers as well as their rank and files who thronged the venue to witness the handing over notes to the incoming Comptroller Jide Jaiyeoba who was transferred from Oyo State Command of the Customs to the Apapa Command.
In his remarks his predecessor, Assistant Comptroller General, (ACG) Auwal Mohammed thanked all the officers of the command for their support and loyalty in the discharge of their duties at the Command, imploring them to extend the same hand of friendship and loyalty to his successor, Comptroller Jayieoba. He commended the hard work of the officers throughout his stay as the comptroller of the Command, adding that they should not relent on their resolve to impact positively on the economy through consistency in generation of revenue for the country.
ACG Mohammed advised his successor not to ignore the contribution of the stakeholders in the discharge of his duties , adding that he should partner with the media so as to make his job hitch-free at the port, insisting that media cannot be ignore in the discharge of his duties as the controller of the Command. Other top officers of Customs from the Command pledged their support and loyalty in making sure that the new Controller succeeds in his drive to raise the revue collection of the Command to an enviable position.
Responding, the new controller thanked his predecessor for the convivial reception at the handover notes, praying that God would be with him in his new responsibility at the headquarters of Customs in Abuja. He assured him that he is going to sustain the good foundation he had laid in the Command and even surpass him.
Comptroller Jayeioba assured the officers at the Command that he is going to carry everybody along in the day-to-day duties of the Command, adding that he is not going to condone any act of indiscipline among the rank and files, insisting that hard work would be rewarded. He equally thanked all the officers for the rousing welcome accorded him at the resumption of duty at the Command, adding that he would continue to encourage valuable contribution of the stakeholders in the Command.
The new controller of Apapa Command said that he is going to operate an open door policy, insisting that his going to attend to everybody without any hindrances. He insisted that his tenure would further cement the existing good relationship the Command had with the media. Comptroller Jayeioba said that journalists are free to approach his office without restriction to discuss the better way to sustain the robust relationship that had existed before his resumption of office. He assured media that he is going to carry them along in the discharge of his duty, appealing to them to assist him in making the Command an envy of other customs Command in the country.
