Controversy trails the selection of Chief Ugochukwu Nduwusi as the eze-elect of Obohia Ndoki community in Ukwa East LGA of Abia State
By Jude Nzennaya, Port Harcourt
A group of people known as Concerned Indigenous People of Obohia Ndoki in Ukwa East Local Government Area, Abia State, has raised concerns about the selection of Chief Ugochukwu Nduwusi as a prospective traditional ruler of Obohia Ndoki traditional stool.
The group in a press release in Port Harcourt raised objections against what it described as amoral conducts of the Eze elect and its bad consequences on the revered stool and traditions of the ancient respected culture and history of their people.
The group alleged inappropriate relationship of Nduwusi with minors and married women among others and pleaded that the allegations be made public to reach the Executive Governor of Abia State and Commissioner of Chieftaincy Affairs in order to save the kingdom of having a character who is already desecrating their custom instead of upholding it.
Protests , disclaimers and counter disclaimers have since taken the center stage and spaces of OBOHIA NDOKI community following the report made by a blended magazine, THE ASSET& MARITIME on the press release.
The magazine published the press release and a balanced response from the embattled chief who claimed that the authors of the release are his opponents who have gone to Aba and other places and now Port Harcourt to discredit him and denied all the allegations in the release.
However the report has continued to generate reactions from sections of Obohia Ndoki people. While some asked Chief Ugochukwu Nduwusi to come clean and clear his name of the allegations which are very obvious, another group under the leadership Umunwanyi Ndoki Association, dismissed the allegations and posited the innocence of the chief and their leader Ms Emuchay Ugwulo, the co accused woman leader alleged to be in inappropriate relationship with the Chief even as a married woman and also an arranger of Ndoki married women to chief for monetary benefits.
A concerned elite of the community among others called the dismissers’ position as disgusting and Laughable, arguing that not everyone is jobless, clueless, gullible, easily manipulated and indecent and called on the elites to ask questions, wondering why the association and the dismissers of the allegations are more interested in the Ezeship candidacy and their so called women leader instead of clearing the messed up image of their acclaimed leader.
Many insist that the two alleged lovers have been seen at odd places and odd times in questionable circumstances. They vow to make public details of their nefarious relationship which they are boasting that they will use their money made through IPOB activities and unholy connection with the police and courts to deal with those who will dare them. More details in our next edition.
