Evang. Comr, Julius Uzoma has been re-elected the President General of the United Igbo Community in Rivers and Bayelsa States

The United Igbo Community (UIC), Rivers and Bayelsa States has re-elected the current President General of the Group, Evang l (Comr.) Julius Uzoma for another four year term.
The event, which took place in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital in December 17th, 2022, saw members of United Igbo Community (UIC) from all the chapters overwhelming voting for Comrade Uzoma and his team to pilot their affairs for the next four years.
Other EXCO members include Chief Linus Mbah (Deputy President), Emmanuel Ukachukwu (Secretary) and Ruth Agbai (Treasurer), among others.
In an interview with journalists shortly after the inauguration of the new executive, Uzoma described leadership as a call to service and promised to sustain his achievements in the last four years as President General of United Igbo Community (UIC).
The soft spoken, but firm leader vowed to bring more empowerment to united Igbo Community members, assuring that no government can afford to ignore the group with the position he has placed it now. He observed detractors using division to distract and cause disharmony among the Igbos, having knowing fully well that the Igbos will do things better and achieve greater heights when they are together as a people
“Leadership is a call to service. I have never used United Igbo Community for business, my commitments is for the good of the umbrella body, I have not benefited anything in the name of the organization, I know how much I spend on monthly basis to keep this group afloat in this critical time and yet some people are busy trying to cause disunity among the Community. Thank God for a successful election, and now that we have stabilized the association, we can now build on the current achievements and go ahead to attract more empowerment to our members,” Uzoma said.
Commenting on their rift with Eze Maduagwu and the group, the President General said Maduagwu attempted to impose some people on the group Executive without due process and when the move was resisted he took the group to court. Based on that the United Igbo Community members have unanimously disowned him as their king. So as far as they are concerned, he is no longer their Eze.
Enumerating some of his achievements as President General in his first tenure, Evang Uzoma said he brought about unity and recognition to the fold, pointing out that today no government can wish away the group in Rivers and Bayelsa States.
The President General said he intends to consolidate on this feat and take United Igbo Community (UIC) to the next level. He expressed his willingness to step aside as the President General of the group any day the people ask him to do so with all pleasure.
