The Law of Karma is real! It is one of the most potent natural laws which states that whatever a man sows, he shall surely reap. Interestingly, the law of the harvest equally states that one reaps more than what he sowed. It applies to whatever men do in their life time whether they believe it or not. Some are lucky to escape it in their life time, but the unlucky ones among their children and grand-children always live to experience the aftermath of their fathers’ doings after their demise.
Any wonder this law of nemesis is catching up with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu just as the golden rule of the Lord Jesus Christ which in the book of Matthew admonishes that we should do unto others just as we want them to do unto us. What is about to play out in Nigeria’s political history could be likened to the law of Karma coming into play in our lifetime. Fortunately, data and posterity do not forget facts and figures of what had happened in the past, and that is why we are often admonished to be wary of our actions, for we know not what Karma will inadvertently bring upon us.
Nigeria has not recovered from the abductions of Government Secondary School girls in Chibok, Borno State on April, 14, 2014. Although about 180 of the 269 innocent school girls have been reportedly rescued, no fewer than 89 of them are still being held in Boko Haram captivity, 12 years after.
Available data also showed that under former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the Chibok Girls abduction, which became the launch pad under which Jonathan was chased out of office, remains the lowest incident in the history of banditry and kidnappings in the country. However, at the heat of the kidnap of the school girls, now incumbent President Tinubu while campaigning for late former President Muhammadu Buhari presidency in 2014, had called on then incumbent President Jonathan to resign as President due to the insecurity at the time.
However, under the late former President Buhari, major abductions of school children increased to over 15 in incidences the eight years of his administration, in spite of allegations that he actually founded and funded the sect to oust Jonathan from office. Buhari was actually widely quoted as saying that he would make the country ungovernable for the sitting president if he lost the 2015 presidential election.
Thereafter, it was learnt that the criminal elements Buhari allegedly recruited to achieve his political motive transformed to the bandits that have held the country to ransom in the last one decade, after the Buhari administration failed to do their bidding while sitting pretty in office.
Now under the President Tinubu administration, there have been no fewer than 13 major school children abductions that have defied all security interventions in the last three years of his government. Which is why frontline opposition figures like Peter Obi, Senator Dino Melaye, Professor Udenta Udenta, Atiku Abubakar and Omoyele Sowore, among others, have called on President Tinubu to resign as president, having frontally failed to stem insecurity in the country.
Indeed, what goes around comes around, and like the saying in a part of the country, the plate one used to borrow garri should be the same plate he should use to repay it. It is called the law of Karma. So, why can’t the president resign now that he has failed the country on all fronts? Instead, his foot soldiers are deploying all manner of propaganda to defend his near-failed government.
