The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Area 1 Command Port Harcourt in compliance with the Federal Government Policy of three point agenda of Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali, ( rted) aimed to generate more revenue, suppressing smugglers and enhancing trade facilitation raked in N28.5b in the first quarter of the year 2023.
The information was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Chedi Wada during press briefing with journalists in Port Harcourt recently
“The command has generated over N28,507,808,031.00 between Jan. and March 2023.” Wada said
“When comparing the figure to the 2022 revenue, the command has so far recorded a 23 per cent increase in revenue during the period under review.” he added.
He stress that the command’s revenue as at 2022 between January and March stood at N23,146,320,043.00, surpassing with over N5b increase in the year in view as the Command realised over N28.5b as at March 2023.
“So far, this indicated a 23 per cent revenue increase recorded as at March 2023.” he said
He also said “The command recorded 119 interventions between January and March 2023 leading to the recovery of N582,576,341.00 as against 373,762,301.00 from 91 interventions recorded between January and March 2022”.
However, the CAC posited “The command’s achievements are attributed to robust synergies strengthened with sister agencies, consigners, Ports operators as well as other stakeholders in the maritime industry.”
Comptroller Wada promised to ensure continued transparency and improved standard to boost the ease of doing business at the Port Harcourt Port.
