The Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Kayode Egbetokun appoints Benjamin Hundeyin the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), as the latter gets set to drive transparency to earn public trust for the Force
Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin, the widely respected outgoing spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, has been appointed the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
Hundeyin who has since resumed duty at the Louis Edet Force Headquarters, Abuja has replaced Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who has been redeployed to lead operations at the Delta Police Command in what authorities described as a routine administrative reshuffle aimed at career advancement and manpower optimization.
CSP Hundeyin brings a formidable mix of field experience and communication expertise to his new national role. With a degree in English from Lagos State University and a Master’s in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan, Hundeyin is not just a police officer, he’s a strategic communicator.
He has completed specialized training in Civil-Military Coordination at the Nigerian Army’s leadership school in Jaji and is affiliated with several elite professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN)
The new FPRO career also includes a notable international assignment with the UN–African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), where he honed his skills in global peacekeeping and crisis management and communication skills.
Since March 2022, Hundeyin has served as the voice of the Lagos State Police, winning praise for his media responsiveness and efforts to bridge the gap between the police and the public. His tenure saw a marked improvement in police-community relations and public trust.
Now stepping into the national spotlight, CSP Hundeyin is tasked with leading the police’s public messaging strategy, reinforcing transparency, and managing crisis communications at the highest level.
