Following a visit to Unity Estate in Mbodo, Aluu by the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government of Rivers State, Odibola Properties has been cleared of alleged land grabbing in and around the University of Port Harcourt community

To douse tension and restore the confidence of residents of Aluu, Executive Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Charles Wobodo, visited Unity Estate, Mbodo, Aluu, to gain first-hand knowledge of the activities ongoing in the estate.

The Council Chairman, who was accompanied by his principal appointees, after being properly briefed on developments in the estate, warned land grabbers against encroaching on any part of Ikwerre land.
Speaking on behalf of the Omuokachi family of Mbodo, Aluu, Ordu Okachi affirmed that the disputed land belonged to his family.
He further explained how his family, under the leadership of the late Captain Elechi Amadi, sold portions of the land to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Resident Doctors Association of the University of Port Harcourt and other individual buyers between 2008 and 2009 without any disputes.
He also clarified that his family does not share any boundary with Rumuekini Community, stating that their immediate neighbors are Omuahunwo and Omuchiolu communities, both in Aluu.
Further, Ordu presented relevant documents, including the original survey plans of the land and a court judgment delivered on December 18, 2025, in which a court of competent jurisdiction ruled in favour of the Omuokachi family against Rumuekini community, in a suit initially filed in 2013.
Okachi also clarified that Odibola Properties is on the land at the invitation of his family, Omuokachi, Mbodo, Aluu, maintaining at both his family and the vendors who purchased land from them granted Odibola Properties power of attorney over the sold portions, as well as the remaining portions still belonging to the family.
Having received comprehensive briefings as well reviewed the documents, Wobodo expressed displeasure that certain individuals were still encroaching on land already backed by a valid court judgment. He advised any aggrieved party to seek redress through lawful means by approaching a higher court, rather than engaging in acts that amount to contempt of court, which is punishable by law.
Reaffirming his commitment to protecting Ikwerre Local Government Area, Wobodo vowed not to allow any person or group to intimidate communities under his jurisdiction, especially where there is a clear court ruling.
Wobodo cautioned individuals spreading false information alleging that Odibola Properties was involved in land grabbing in Mbodo community, Aluu, saying, “When we received information that Odibola Properties was grabbing land in Mbodo, I decided to personally visit the site and I have heard directly from a representative of the family, who confirmed that it was their family that invited Odibola Properties, granted them power of attorney, and that there has been no dispute between them.
“Therefore, the rumors circulating that Odibola Properties is grabbing land in Mbodo Community are false, malicious and aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the award-winning real estate company in Rivers State.”
