The General Overseer (GO), The Apostolic Mount Olive Church with National Headquarter at Elelenwo Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Prophet Dr. David Udo, Udo, has urged Christians to participate and pray for peaceful 2027 general election for the betterment of the society.
The respected man of God gave the advice in an interview with Tentacle at the closing ceremony of the church National Easter Convention 2026 held at its National Headquarter, 27 Apa Imoto Road, Elelenwo Port Harcourt.
The Akwa Ibom born charismatic preacher encouraged Christian to register and collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) as to enable them vote. Prophet Udo Udo further disclosed that his church is ready to partner everyone in prayers for the peace, progress, development and betterment of the country.
He went further to advise ministers of God to do their work and be prayerful saying that the peace of the country depends on their prayers. He urged electorates and the politicians to be careful, saying that election is not a do or die affair, stressing that those who lost today may win tomorrow.
The soft-spoken General Overseer also discouraged the spirit of winner takes all but encouraged those in power to learn how to embrace the opponents who lost during election. He warned against the idea of political leaders arming the youths for election.
He stressed the need for youths to be careful, adding that their future depends on the kind of person they portray today. He noted that people should vote their conscience and not because of any political party, explaining that the right party may future the wrong candidate, while the wrong party may future the right candidate.
He stressed that peaceful co-existence is the best way to live and added that no violent man has benefited anything meaningful. On that note, he charged government at all levels to strive to end the spate of banditry, kidnapping, terrorism among others for a safer country. He told the leaders at all levels to wake up and tackle terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, robbery, fraud, hatred and hunger in the land.
Prophet Dr. David Udo Udo who commended the faithful of his church for their special prayers for peace and sustainable development during the National Easter convention said. “the church will continue to offer prayers for the wellbeing and advancement of the country, noting that there is no challenge that prayers cannot solve.
He used the medium to enjoined Christians to prepare for the second coming of Christ as stated in the bible. According to him, Christ is coming very soon whether the world believe or not, adding that Christians should do the needful towards the propagation of the word of God to all nooks and crannies.
The man of God condemned the fact that the name of God has turned into a lucrative business by some selfish persons adding that real Christians should learn to be different and not follow bandwagon.
He said Christ will come back to the world to give everybody his or her reward adding that some people who are Christians are enemies of Christ, as they work against him through actions and talks.
On the role religious leaders should play to develop the country Dr. Udo Udo said religious leaders should pray for political leaders to lead us right.
On the incessant herds/ farmers clashes in the country, the G.O said federal government has a major role to play, because they control the land, sea and air, being in charge of the Armed forces, there is nothing impossible for them. When people are crying for particular issue for a long time, the federal government should listen and stop it.
The clergy appealed to Christians as followers of Christ to always be peaceful and tolerate other people even from other religion just as Christ did.
“I appeal that as Christians being followers of Christ, we are peaceful people even when Christ was being crucified, has never asked the wrath of God to consume his persecutors we are to always forgive one another” the General Overseer said.
He further pointed out that the way things are going in our society in recent time clearly indicate that the message of Easter have not been fully grasped by the people particularly our leaders in view of enormous corruption, lack and hardship despite the abundant resources God bestowed on us.
“Everybody want to make money through shortcuts, yahoo, fraud, embezzlement, untold atrocities displayed by majority of people who go to church does this attitude signify the sacrificial love Jesus displayed on the cross?
He therefore advised Christians to ensure that Jesus Christ labour is not in vain. “There is still room for a charge of heart towards doing the right thing to the glory of God and betterment of humanity”.
On why the Holy Spirit gave them the theme of this year National Easter Convention “Walking in the ways of Jesus Christ. He said “As Christians, our role model remains Jesus Christ he is our examples in all life’s choices his teachings and conduct are examples that he urged us to emulate.
We must at all times walk in his ways, just as he taught while on earth he commanded in Gospel John 13:14-16 “If I then, your Lord and master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another’s feet…..” for I have given you an example that you should do as I have done to you”.
In conclusion, Propjet David Udo Udo added “We come to refill our spirits and soak ourselves in the great words of Jesus Christ so that we may walk in His footsteps”
